In an article by Peggy Peck on the WebMD website, the blood-thinner prescription drug "Plavix" when combined with "clot-busting drugs and aspirin...cuts deaths and second heart attacks by 36% compared with standard heart attack treatment."  The study by Harvard researchers also indicated a 20% decrease in the need for bypass surgery.

Governor Pataki announced his intention to cut Medicaid costs by cutting Podiatry budget (among other items). It will be interesting to see how this will affect patients battling diabetes. Speculation is that the cuts will be in the free shoe program.  Time will tell.

The conclusion is that a good uninterrupted eight hours of sleep can help reduce weight since leptin is the messenger to the brain that lets it know when you have consumed enough food.
